It's FINALLY starting to look like Christmas...

We have finally gotten our Christmas tree up! It was a long, drawn out process for us, because we were in quite the debate about which tree to purchase. We have 9 foot ceilings in our house and didn't want to buy a teeny tiny little tree, and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on an artificial tree. I also don't like the skinny trees [can you tell why it took 2 weeks to actually pick out the tree?]. Finally we picked out a tree. A beautiful, non-lit, 7.5 foot Donner Fir we found at WalMart. And we purchased it for less than $100 {including the lights!}

I am so excied! We got home last night and hubby drug it out of the box and started putting it together for me. As usual, I was standing close by with the camera in my hand...

The progression of our Christmas tree...
Before...with the limbs scattered out all over the living room floor.
Then, completely assembled...
and finally completely decorated and lit.

I am such a child when it comes to Christmas decorating. I decorated the banister on our staircase, but it's embarrassing how plain it is right now, so I'm not going to even show you pictures until I have finished it. Oh yea...remember this window in our living room? The one that was supposed to have blinds over it when we moved into our new house and didn't?

The window that is 14 feet wide and 9.5 feet tall?
The window that the estimates for curtains to cover it ranged from $300-$400? And vertical blinds were going to cost us about $700?

Yea. I fixed it. Myself. The cost? $56.
Two $13 curatins rods from K-Mart and two King Size sheets from Wal-Mart have covered my window and it looks fantastic. Want to see?

This is a project that I am very excited to cross off of my "Home Makeover Project" to do list. And it looks so good! With Christmas right here around the corner and hubby working a few night hours lately, we weren't very comfortable leaving our window open for anyone and everyone to see inside of. Not that I really think anyone would come in our house or anything like that [we live in a Townhouse complex, so our neighbors are literally right beside us.] But either way, it looks so much better now that we have a curtain up, and I can open and close it with ease...
Anywho. That's all of the Christmas photos I have for you right now. I promise, when I get the banister a little bit more decorated I will post some photos. I have to get some stockings and I want to hang them there. And maybe some more garland. Not sure yet. Now, off to light my Cranberry scented Christmas candles and drink a cup of coffee. We have a cold front moving through this week so I'm trying to get the most out of it while I can.

Yippee - so happy about the cold front, except that I hope it doesn't make my kids sick! My baby boy has a cough already. :( Crazy that we live so close - would love to meet sometime! :)

Hey, I am impressed that you covered those huge windows for such a low price! Looks nice... And your tree looks really nice too.
