In my Bag

You can learn a lot about photography just by knowing what someone shoots their photos with. A lot times when I'm blog hopping and find myself entranced by beautiful photos, I find myself wishing that the author would list what equipement they use to capture those pictures. Soooo...with that in mind, I thought I would share with all of you what I shoot with.

I have:

Canon Rebel Xsi 12.2 MP with 18-55 mm Kit Lens

51yldYuDPmL__AA300_ This is not a professional grade camera, by any means, but it IS a SLR and a workhorse. I have captured beautiful photos on it and will continue to use it as a backup even after I upgrade this Fall. I rarely, if ever use my Kit Lens.

50 mm f/1.8 Prime Lens

This little baby is a BEAST. The low aperture allows for some beautiful Macro Shots and close-ups. There is a Wider 1.2 lens that I would like to upgrade to one day, but for now-at a price of only $100.00 through Amazon, this lens is a MUST for the budding photographer.

I am Purchasing:

Canon EOS 60D 18 MP

60d

This camera will be mine before the end of October  2010. I can not WAIT to get my hands on it.

Tamron 28-75 f/2.8

51M0Q0A1ZDL__SL500_AA300_ This is the first new lens I will be purchasing within the coming months. The reviews are fantastic and it is a very quality equivalent of the Canon 24-70 for less than half of the price.

My Wishlist:

Canon 5d Mark ii 21.1 MP

This is Mac Daddy of SLR Cameras…the closest I’ve gotten to one was a shelf in Best Buy. One day…this little beauty will be mine.

Canon 24-70 f/2.8

unnamedThe workhorse and Mac Daddy of lenses. For about $1,300.00 it can be yours. And one day it will be.  :) The hubby just doesn’t know it yet.

A Kelly Moore Bag

fuschia-front_2These bags are not only beautiful but totally and completely efficient for photographers. With loads of space and separate compartments for lenses, etc. this is a must have for photographers.

Other items I use:

Sony Vaio 15.5 inch 4 GB Laptop
unnamed

Yes. I do use a PC. One day, I plan to upgrade to a MacBook Pro. But for now, I am using the Vaio with the same specs as the MacBook. With it I purchased the extended warranty and the Virus Protection Plan. The screen calibration is phenomenal and the processor is super quick.

Adobe Photoshop CS5

unnamed

Though it is pricey this is the BEST software for photo editing. There is nothing you can’t do using this product.

My photography stash also includes several pieces of literature, including:

  • The Digital Photographers Handbook by Tom Ang
  • Photoshop CS5: Top 100 Tips &Tricks by Lynette Kent-John Wiley & sons
  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Photographers by Martin Evening

There are also multiple websites that offer fantastic tutorials free for the taking:
